Super Consent
Local body councils often get a bad wrap, especially when it comes to building consents. Now I may be biased since I work for ours, but I have to say Tararua District Council rocks.
We have bought a second hand garage that is currently in the Brittons yard in Napier. It’s a nice old wooden one in good nick. Doing it up and getting it here on site will be significantly cheaper than buying some hideous coloursteel new construction.
I filed for consent with the lads in the building section only last Thursday and consent came in the mail today! They must have completed it and sent it the same day I filed. So our building inspection team rock!
Consents, Brittons and Moving House
I have the consents in my hot hands for the move. Everything is approved, which makes everything just that little bit more real. I rang Brittons who will be moving the house and had a conversation along these lines:
Me: Hi, we have consents now, so can we book a date.
Brittons: What already?
Me: Yep, everything is good to go.
Brittons: Gosh I know Tararua is fast sometimes but that’s… Well… Umm we are pretty busy for the next two weeks.. We will get back to you with a date by the end of next week…
So back to waiting
The boys in building will usually have your consents ready within ten working days… They rock!
Anyway the house is a bit of a mess today as the plumber is in removing inbuilt fireplaces so we can demo more of the chimneys…
Trees, Writing, And Study
I am off this afternoon with the man from the council who looks after our new road to talk trees. Hopefully it won’t be too difficult to get the ones we need trimmed back. We need 11 metres clearance from side to side to get the house down the road.
I started knocking down the chimney the other day, so we sort of need everything to go well.
Writing and study has not gone well this week, with one thing and another. I am glad I managed to get a lot of writing done on the weekend.
Theres always next week, as this weekend we are having a weekend in the big smoke while grand parental units look after kids, dogs and house
