The New Building Project

A while a go we put a deposit on a second hand garage. We would have put it on site, but the foundations have been a little tricky. Grandad has come to the rescue and is laying the foundations to help us save money…. :-)

Waiting for concrete

Look for more pictures as the concrete is poured, and then the garage shifted on site!

Inchworm, Inchworm, Measuring The Marigold

I had to nip up to Hastings today to measure the garage. The new second hand garage requires a raised nib to be sited properly, so we couldn’t just lay an extra large concrete pad, and plop it down. The garage we have chosen is cool, but I am a bit worried since we need accurate measurements. We couldn’t afford to pay the builder to go do the measuring, so I had to do it myself. The blame will be all mine

I did the measuring myself, which lead to some interesting solutions.

On my own, how do you get the measuring tape to stay in place?

Cooll shelves, and lovely wood.

Still needs a little water blasting...

The Workbench... Lots of Projects foreseen

Super Consent

Local body councils often get a bad wrap, especially when it comes to building consents. Now I may be biased since I work for ours, but I have to say Tararua District Council rocks.

We have bought a second hand garage that is currently in the Brittons yard in Napier. It’s a nice old wooden one in good nick. Doing it up and getting it here on site will be significantly cheaper than buying some hideous coloursteel new construction.

I filed for consent with the lads in the building section only last Thursday and consent came in the mail today! They must have completed it and sent it the same day I filed. So our building inspection team rock! :-)
